Unscramblers are used to unscramble bottles or other containers for use in a production line when hand-placing bottles is not fast enough or practical. They take bottles dumped into a hopper and place them in the proper position on an outfeed conveyor to a bottle cleaner, orienter, filler, or other machine. Unscramblers differ from orienters in that an orienter rotates a container that is not reversible, such as a bottle with an offset neck or different patterns on either side. The type of container and unscrambling speed are factors in choosing an unscrambler.
